Garlic Specialty Chemicals available for purchase

Our specialty chemicals division, can provide a range of specialist garlic components, specifically for research purposes.

Alliin - Garlic contains three S-alkylcysteine sulphoxides capable of producing thiosulphinates. Alliin or S-2-propenylcysteine sulphoxide constitutes approximately 85% of the three sulphoxides. Available as a stable solid in quantities from 0.5g. Email garlic@mistral.co.uk for prices and availability.

Allicin - A pungent oil, yellow brown in colour. Must be stored at -70 centigrade. Will decompose within a few hours. Synthesised from diallyl disulphide. Soluble in water and several organic solvents (details on request).Available in small quantities and transported in dry ice. Email garlic@mistral.co.uk for prices and availability.

Allicin - We can now supply allicin as a stable liquid dissolved in water. The compound is produced by a natural substrate/enzyme reaction and is classified under EEC directive 88/388 and US Federal Register Title 21, Section 101.22. Pale yellow to colourless liquid 1.5 mg allicin/ml. Stored in a chilled environment at 4 centigrade allicin is stable for at least 6 months (re-evaluation required after this).

Stable allicin is now available following discovery of a new manufacturing proceedure. Currently only available from The Garlic Centre, strictly for research purposes only. Material transfer agreement and full details of your research projects will be required and acknowledgement of The Garlic Information Centre in any published work will be required. Ajoene -Originally discovered after incubation of chopped garlic in methanol with remarkable activity towards inhibition of blood platelet aggregation.Stable solid showing no decay at room temperature in the absence of of solvent.. Available as an isometric mixture E/Z 4,5,9-trithiadodeca-1,6,11-triene-9-oxide. Z isomer is dominant when prepared in nonpolar solvents. Email garlic@mistral.co.uk for prices and availability.
